Tesco is setting up a UK-based team to boost sales of homeware and electrical categories through its Central European stores.

The team will be at least 20 strong and include buyers, marketing managers, merchandise planning managers, as well as a senior team. Their remit will be to devise a three-year strategy to accelerate growth through a new centralised buying model for Tesco's Czech Republic, Slovak, Polish, Hungarian and Turkish stores.

The team will put together a shared trading and promotional plan, while tailoring ranges and marketing to local needs.
