Tesco is going Greek with a range of 23 imported products from Mediterranean food supplier Bevelynn.
The company has won a national listing for foods from its Bevelini range, including pickles, regional extra virgin olive oil,
ready-to-eat tins of stuffed vine leaves, giant beans in oil and trays of Greek meze.
Managing director Peter Kakolyris said: “We are experiencing a real growth in the Mediterranean diet, driven by celebrity chefs, the media and the fact that consumers are now wanting to eat the food at home that they first experience on holiday.”
The company has been importing speciality food from Greece, Italy and Spain for more than a quarter of a century, including pickles, olives, nut snack bars, Greek thyme honey, Tahini paste and balsamic vinegars.
