Private Liquor Brands, Allied Bakeries, Toms Confectionery, Tayto, Arla Foods, Fredericks Dairies, Robert McBride, Veetee Rice, Silver Spring, Fine Foods International, Finlays, Fox's Biscuits, Princes, Weetabix and Oscar Mayer Group have all emerged as category champions in this year's survey.
Many of these companies are regulars in our survey - with Robert McBride winning its category for six years in a row, Toms Confectionery being best in class for the fourth year running and Arla having taken the dairy prize three times in succession.
Our survey is unique in that we ask buyers from across the retail and wholesale sectors to nominate their best suppliers. They vote on the basis of strict criteria such as account management skills, NPD record and value for money.
Each of these category winners has now been entered into The Grocer Gold Awards 2006, where they will compete for the ultimate accolade of being named the industry's top own label supplier.
Arla has won that award for the past two years.
Sponsored by Deloitte, GS1 UK, Headcount and Walt Disney companies BVHE and Disney Consumer Products, The Grocer Gold Awards take place at the Dorchester Hotel in London on June 14.
The winners of our branded suppliers survey will be named in a special feature in next week's issue of The Grocer.
