Former Sainsbury brand marketing director Jeremy Schwartz has taken up a new position as chief executive of Conival, the cash shell company that has just acquired celebrity chef Marco Pierre White’s Portfolio Products business.
Schwartz had been with Sainsbury since 2002, where he was responsible for price competition and repositioning the brand. He left last September following marketing director Stephen Nelson’s decision to restructure the brand marketing role.
At Conival, Schwartz will concentrate on the development and implementation of Portfolio’s strategy, with emphasis on building contacts with food retail buyers.
Portfolio, set up by celebrity chef White, has the rights to celebrity names including Jean Christophe Novelli, Nancy Lam and Vineet Bhatia.
Schwartz will be responsible for securing marketing deals with major retail outlets for these brands.
