A year ago two events shocked the convenience sector.

The Co-operative Group bought Alldays for £131m and then Tesco stumped up £377m for T&S Stores.

From operators’ initial reactions, it seemed they were not taking the threat from the big box invasion seriously.

Established players warned Tesco would find it hard to run c-stores and some doubted that the Co-operative Group could refurbish one Alldays every two days.

The Grocer magazine charts the progress of the invasion and rates the offers in this week’s issue - out Saturday.
