Somerfield store manager Chris Abbott was our man of the moment this time last year after his Melksham store in Wiltshire wowed our shopper with outstanding levels of customer service and a full basket of groceries. Abbott, who had been at the store for nine months when we last spoke to him, had been busy implementing the retailer's new Cycle of Service scheme, and with dazzling results. He has since moved to another branch, but new manager Simon Robertson, who has been at the helm for just four weeks, said he would be carrying on Abbott's good work. The store has had an excellent Christmas in terms of sales, and he plans to start the New Year as he means to go on. With a bang.
