Sainsbury is trialling a turntable style rotating shopping trolley for wheelchair users.

The basket part of the trolley, invented by trolley supplier Buko, can be rotated 360 degrees.

Designer Ian Thompson said he had decided to create the trolley after watching disabled shoppers struggle to reach the end of a traditional trolley.

Sainsbury disability champion Stuart Machin said: “We now have five different wheelchair designs. This trolley will make a real difference to the disabled.”

The trial is taking place at Sainsbury’s Water Lane store in Farnham, Kent.
