Unicorn Grocery, the Manchester based co-operative store, is seeking land for an organic growing business.

The organic and wholefood retailer has secured more than £150,000 in funding and hopes to find a site to provide its 3,500 sq ft store in Chorlton, south Manchester, with local vegetables.

"Amid uncertainty over fuel costs and land, it feels like the right time to look," said Adam York, a buyer and one of the founding members of Unicorn Grocery. "For us, it's a long-term commitment to providing local organic veg for south Manchester and for our customers there will be fresher food, with less food miles, and a local identity."
