Unilever is to sell its Mentadent toothpaste and toothbrushes, Pepsadent and Aim toothpaste to Church & Dwight of Princeton, New Jersey.

The deal will net Unilever $104m in cash, plus additional performance-based cash payments of between $5m and $12m.

Sales for the oral care business for the first six months of 2003 were $61m.

The move is part of the group’s on-going ‘Path to Growth’ strategy to focus on its leading 400 brands.

Last week Unilever announced that it had agreed to sell its US Brut line of male personal care products.
