United Co-operatives Food Group has made changes to its senior management team in a bid to boost efficiency.
Susan Beetlestone has been appointed to the food executive as general manager for marketing. She moves from her previous role as head of marketing and space planning.
She will have overall responsibility for marketing, range management and store planning. She joined United Co-op six years ago as senior space planner from Kwik Save, where she also worked on space planning until its merger with Somerfield. She has also worked for Palmer & Harvey McLane, selling confectionery and
cigarettes. Additionally, Mike Relton has snapped up the post of general manager for trading in the food executive. His responsibilities include the delivery of gross margin and stock control. Relton joined United Co-op in 1975. He managed stores for 12 years until he became the produce buying and distribution manager in 1989.
Relton took the post of distribution manager in 1991, then moved up to his most recent role of distribution and buying manager.
Tim Hurrell, general manager of United Co-op’s food group, said: “Both Susan and Mike have an excellent track record. I would like to welcome them to the food executive team and look forward to working with them and building on the success of the food group.”
