Sainsbury is challenging high street video rental firms with the launch of an online DVD rental feature on its website.
The service has been launched in partnership with the online rental business and offers consumers access to more than 24,000 DVD titles. Customers sign up to the facility for £13.97 per month and can watch an unlimited number of films for that fee.
They can have three DVDs at any one time. Orders are made online and posted to customers, with postage page both ways and an envelope for the return of the movie. Unlike high street rental services, there is no late return fee. New subscribers can use the service free for a month.
Sainsbury said it had teamed up with for its competitive rates and wide
selection of DVDs. Toby Anderson, head of online services at Sainsbury, said: “In response to customers telling us they have increasingly little time to enjoy themselves, we believe that online DVD rental was the perfect way to provide a convenient entertainment service.”
He added: “The volume of DVDs to choose from and ease of ordering provides a great value package that fits perfectly with the lifestyle needs of our customers.”
