Waitrose is set to ramp up its online non-food offer by selling a range of homeware from its parent company, the John Lewis Partnership.

The retailer is due to launch a virtual homeshop on waitrose.com on Tuesday offering thousands of the home and kitchen lines. The ranges will also be available in 18 of its larger stores.

The move is likely to be seen as a response to Ocado last week announcing plans to broaden its non-food offer with dinnerware and glassware.

Relations between Ocado, which sells Waitrose-branded grocery products, and the Waitrose have become increasing competitive since the former severed its financial ties with JLP last year.
