Waitrose has signed up to become a member of the Institute of Customer Service.

The supermarket, which earlier this year won The Grocer 33 Customer Service Award, recently emerged as the top-rated food retailer in the institute’s customer service index.

“As a co-owned business, providing excellent service to our shoppers is a very important part of our business, and something that we take great pride in,” said Waitrose retail services director Graham Heald.

“We look forward to working closely with the Institute and its other members, sharing best practice and helping to embed customer service as a key strategic business driver.”

ICS chief executive Jo Causon added: “Not only is Waitrose one of the fastest-growing and most innovative food retailers, but our research shows it is already very focused on customer service.”
