The retailer announced this week that refurbishment of the 7,000 sq ft store would begin in the new year, with a view to opening in spring.
The store, which will create 60 jobs, will be the retailer's second in Bristol, where there is already a standard-sized store. The retailer opens its first store in Nottingham this Thursday and a further two trial stores, at locations yet to be decided, are also expected to open by spring next year.
"We know there's a real passion for quality food in Bristol," said Waitrose director of development, Nigel Keen. "We believe you shouldn't have to compromise on the standard of your shopping experience just because a store is smaller and designed for convenience."
