Supermarket chain Waitrose’s full-year profit to January 28 rose 19% to £231m on sales up 13% to £3.3bn.

The retailer added that it would be entering the Scottish grocery market for the first time by acquiring two stores in Edinburgh from Somerfield for an undisclosed sum.

It has also acquired a further three stores in Balham and Barbican, London, and Buxton, Derbyshire.
