After reviewing the anti-Wal-Mart film & 'The High Cost of Low Price', we suggested that before someone launched a movie targeting Tesco, it should pre-empt them with a positive version (The Grocer, April 1, p36).

Now Wal-Mart has shown how such a project can be executed, with 'Why Wal-Mart Works'.

As the DVD blurb says, the film is "a free-market look at how Wal-Mart's quest for excellence has created an environment that benefits staff and shoppers".

Maybe the Competition Commission should accept such unbiased evidence for its probe into the grocery market.
