As part of Sainsbury's ongoing commitment to providing customers with local products Sainsbury has given Westaways the opportunity to showcase its sausage-making skills on two of the stores' meat counters. These are Sainsbury's Alphington Cross in Exeter, the other The Willows in Torquay.
Westaways has developed an exclusive range of sausages for these stores. Extensive research has produced a range developed to suit the tastes of the locality. Ten different sausages vary from Classic Pork sausage to West Country Lamb and Rosemary or Pork with Celery and Stilton.
Steve Turton, Westaways' md, said: "It seems rather fitting that we should be piloting these products both in Exeter ­ my home town where my family has traded as butchers for over 40 years ­ and Torquay, the birthplace of Westaways sausages."
Westaways bacon is also being launched on Sainsbury's shelves.
Available as mild cured or wood smoked, Sainsbury's will be the first supermarket to carry the line.
