The Grocer will be publishing its third annual Big 30 list of the UK's leading wholesalers on 27 January. Last year was another dramatic year for wholesalers, not least with the constant speculation surrounding Nisa-Today's proposed merger with Costcutter now off.

There have also been plenty of major comings and goings at Blueheath, while Parfetts has spent much of the past 12 months battling Tesco in Stockport over its retrospective planning application. Woodward Foodservice took over DBC Foodservice, which is likely to take the new company into the top ten.

You will have to wait until the end of the month to find out what impact these events have had on the ranking. Will Palmer & Harvey McLane still be out in front and has Charles Wilson turned round last year's falling sales figures? Will Bestway edge past Brakes for third spot? And will any new wholesalers make the big list?
