Wholesale buying group Landmark has joined Tesco and Waitrose on the list of Christmas sales winners as it recorded a 6.6% rise in like-for-like sales for the last quarter of 2004. The results helped the group to annual sales of close to £1.8bn.
Strong alcohol and impulse sales were the driving force behind the growth, with wine sales up 40%, thanks in part to the introduction of the exclusive Vintners Collection wine range.
The Today’s Group was also celebrating good Christmas figures with like-for-like sales of licensed goods up 10% and the grocery category up nearly 5% for the last quarter of 2004.
