Musgrave has invested 350,000 euros to introduce wireless technology in its nine cash and carry depots in Northern Ireland and the Republic after a successful introduction in its foodservice depot in Ballymun.
Staff use hand-held units directly linked to the main computer system via an internal radio frequency network to access real-time stock and pricing information.
Activities such as gap replenishment, price verification and shelf edge label production can be done on the spot.
Musgrave is now working with its solutions partner, BCP to extend radio frequency technology to other activities including customer returns.
