Robert Wiseman Dairies is investing £7.5m in a new depot near Northampton and a further £7m into extended shelf life processing and filling technology at its Droitwich dairy.
It has also confirmed plans to boost processing capacity either through a new dairy or the expansion of an existing site. The move follows a net gain of 100 million litres of fresh milk volume following the restructuring of supply contracts at the major retailers over the summer.
The Northampton depot will start servicing customers in the south-east from the second quarter of next year, while commercial production of extended shelf life milk will start in mid-2005.
