The RSPCA has launched a consumer education campaign to drive sales of Freedom Food and other higher-welfare pork.

The Think Pig campaign encourages consumers to use a web checklist to help them choose higher-­welfare pork displaying the Freedom Food logo. If that's not available, it recommends consumers buy outdoor-bred, free-range or organic instead.

"The more who choose higher-welfare pork, the more pigs will be reared to better welfare standards," said Kate Parkes, a scientific officer at the RSPCA.
