GlaxoSmithKline is aiming to give Lucozade Energy summer appeal, with a new flavour for the hot season.

From early next month, the drink will be available in an apple variant for the first time. GSK says apple is the second most popular drink flavour after orange.

Support will come from advertising, sampling and in-store material, which will spearhead a £5.2m campaign for the entire brand, kicking off next month and running until September.

The new addition is the brand's first flavour extension since wild berry was launched in March 2004.
