Rick Stein was at hand in Padstow to help Cornish fishermen launch the new line-caught pollack tags.

Following the success of the South West Handline Fishermen's Association line-caught bass tagging scheme and website, the association has received many enquiries for tagged line-caught pollack.

Each pollack tag is individually numbered and the corresponding vessel can be traced using the website.

M&S has been selling pollack from Cornwall for over a couple of months and Waitrose is set to stock it soon as it is committed to sourcing line-caught fish. Morrisons also sells pollack.

"The feedback from the website has been fantastic - people really appreciate the quality and the responsible way in which it is caught" said Andrew Pascoe, line fisherman and vice-chair of the South West Handline Fishermen's Association.

The SWHFA is putting both the line-caught pollack and bass fisheries forward for MSC pre-assessment.
