Traditional breeds specialist Yorkshire Dales Meat has won a contract to supply Costcutter's Ebor stores with its beef and lamb.

The company specialises in locally reared, naturally fed and traditionally hung meat, which is butchered at its own 9,000 sq ft plant in Bedale, North Yorkshire.

Yorkshire Dales Meat's farmer-turned-processor Stephen Knox aims to build a reputation for sustainable farming and butchering, with a programme of tree planting and renewable energy. Part of his site has been set aside for cooked meats and ready meals, enabling the company to double its turnover in the past six months.
