Sir, We at Dairy Crest source all the cream for our Country Life butter from the UK as part of our long-term commitment to British farming. So, it is with great interest that we read Arla's announcement regarding the move of all its UK supermarket own-label butter production to the Westbury Dairies plant ('Westbury buy prompts Arla own-label butter switch', www.thegrocer.co.uk).

It's great to see Arla's stated commitment to follow us in supporting UK dairy and to reducing its carbon emissions. Will that commitment also apply to its brands Lurpak from Denmark and Anchor from New Zealand or just to own label?

We presume from this omission in Arla's announcement that Country Life will continue to enjoy its position as the only major British butter brand.
