The company - which relaunched its Danish Blue brand last year - has come up with an extra creamy recipe with added cranberry pieces to give a milder, sweeter taste.
Rosenborg said the boxed packaging had a real point of difference that was aimed at bringing new consumers into the category while maintaining the brand’s gourmet positioning.
Tesco is listing the 125g pack, which has an rsp of £1.39.
Brand manager Mick Evans said the launch strengthened the manufacturer’s authority in the speciality cheese market.
“The price reflects the premium product positioning while adding value back into the market,” he said. “Consumer insights confirm that customers expect to pay more for blue cheese as it reflects a superior quality.”
A Pear variant is due for launch later this year.
