Chilean peaches and nectarines down Early crop forecasts from Chile point to significant reductions in stone fruit although quality has been unimpaired. There has been a drop of 29% in Flavourcrest peaches where harvesting has been completed, alongside Red Top, Flame Crest and White Royal. Diamond Princess and Elegant Lady are also coming to a close. Red Diamond nectarines are 50% lighter. Ruby Diamond has only fared marginally better, down by a third. Excessive humidity during pollination means Black and Red Beauty plums could be half the volume expected. The Chilean Fresh Fruit Association, Europe stresses that the decrease is set against extremely high volumes last season  80% up in Europe on the previous year. Total Chilean fruit sales last year reached 1.6 million tonnes valued at $1.5bn. {{FRESH PRODUCE }}
