Cadbury Trebor Bassett has confirmed it is in talks with the Youth Sports Trust over a major schools marketing programme.
Any corporate sponsorship deal would focus on encouraging children to participate in sport.
A spokesman for CTB said it was too early to reveal details but that on-pack activity across its chocolate countline portfolio was one area being considered. This could take the shape of vouchers redeemable against sports equipment, he added. Sport has been high on Cadbury's marketing agenda in the past year.
It sponsored the Commonwealth Games in the summer and recently signed deals with sports stars Audley Harrison and Paula Radcliffe.
The spokesman said manufacturers were keen to emphasise that exercise was as important to health as diet.
