Some 40 British cucumber growers are meeting this week to decide whether they could benefit from a new crop association, following the example of the iceberg, lettuce, tomato and most recently sprout industries. The cucumber industry is valued at around £38m accounting for around half of the annual figure. Competition in the summer months comes mainly from Holland with an 18% share while in the winter, sales are reliant on Spain and the Canary Islands. {{FRESH PRODUCE }}
