A teacher of authentic Indian cookery has launched a spice mix range aimed at the retail and delicatessen markets. West Yorkshire-based Prett Tejura created her Curry Cuisine company less than a year ago. She organises cookery courses, tasting weekends and dinner parties for beginners to gourmets, and the Spice Mixes are a new strand to the business. Retailing from £1.99, the range is currently stocked by two farm shops but the company is in talks with two major retailers. There are mixes for chicken masala, lamb bhuna, Bombay potatoes, chicken tikka, salmon tikka and aloo gobi matar and are based on traditional family recipes. Each contains no salt, artificial colours or flavourings and packs carry easy-to-follow recipes. Tejura said she believed there was an opportunity for spice mixes to be taken up because five million of the UK's Indian food lovers never cooked it at home.
