Dairy Crest said the price paid to its suppliers for milk for cheese is to rise by 0.3ppl, backdated to July 1.
The increase comes on the heels of an agreement at retail level to increase the in-store price of own-label cheese. Dairy Crest added that August’s milk for cheese price was set to rise further. Arthur Reeves, milk purchasing director, said: “Production costs for farmers have risen. We have worked hard with our retail customers to secure these price increases.”
