Shares in Dairy Crest fell 33.5p to finish on 654.5p yesterday after the company warned that a recall of its Clover brand earlier this year would hit its spreads division.

In a trading update, the company said that trading was in line with expectations but the recall had significantly impacted Clover volumes.

Although the update was mixed, the company's brands had performed well and Dairy Crest was handling commodity price rises, analysts said.
