Dairy Crest has chosen 14 projects, including an adopt-a-cow scheme and Frijj cafés, to take forward from its internal 'Dragons' Den' competition.

Launched last year, the competition prompted 75 employees to submit ideas for Dairy Crest to take forward using a £250,000 designated investment fund.

Ideas that did not make it included skimmed milk drinks machines in gyms and lactose-free cheese.

"This has shown what our employees are capable of," said Martyn Wilks, executive MD of Dairy Crest's Foods business.
