The Dairy Council plans to promote the weight-loss and bone-strength benefits of dairy in the wake of recent research debunking the myth that all dairy products were high in fat.

Last month, scientific research in The Journal of Nutrition indicated diets high in protein and low-fat dairy improve calcium intake and may preserve bone mineral density.

"A failure to take in enough calcium during teenage years can result in poor bone development, which may have implications later on in life," said Lisa Ryan, senior nutrition lecturer at Bournemouth University.
