Yoghurt maker Chobani - which is currently locked in a legal battle with rival Fage - has donated 34,000 pots of yoghurt to FareShare.

The yoghurts were delivered to 10 FareShare depots last week.

A Chobani spokeswoman denied the donation was linked to a change in the labelling of Chobani’s products in the UK, which will see it temporarily change the name from “Greek yoghurt” to “Greek strained yoghurt” from 1 December pending the outcome of the court action. Chobani had always had “a commitment to giving back to its local communities,” she said.

Fage has brought a case against Chobani for describing its US-made yoghurts as “Greek”.
