With just five weeks left until Christmas, the nation’s cheesemakers are starting to roll out their festive blends to the mults’ deli counters.
On Wednesday, Stilton producer Long Clawson launched a White Stilton with Chocolate and Ginger in Sainsbury’s. The product built on recent popularity of cheese blended with chocolate and would “capture the imagination of the consumer”, predicted Janice Breedon, Long Clawson Dairy marketing manager.
Meanwhile, Joseph Heler has launched a Mature Cheddar with Christmas Chutney in Tesco. The Cheddar has been blended with a sweet and spicy chutney, containing apple, onion, cranberry, currant, spices and garlic – with a touch of rum. “We believe blended cheese plays an important role in adding value to the British dairy market,” said Mike Heler, MD of Joseph Heler Cheese
