Food and farming minister Jim Paice has welcomed the publication of the dairy industry’s Dairy 2020 roadmap.
The Dairy 2020 project was set up last year to create a strategy for a sustainable British dairy industry. It is spearheaded by a seven-strong committee of Asda, Dairy UK, Defra, the NFU, First Milk, DairyCo and Volac, a dairy powder and ingredients maker.
The roadmap outlines key risks and opportunities for the dairy industry, and provides a strategy toolkit for companies. Paice said the initiative gave a “clear vision” and was a “brilliant example of what can be done when an industry works together in a collaborative way”.
