Just two months after Alpro rebranded its range of dairy alternatives and launched the UK’s first mainstream hazelnut and almond milks, Tesco has bolstered its own chilled dairy-free offering - introducing among other products almond and hazelnut milks.

As well as the milks, Tesco’s new chilled Free From range includes: chilled rice, soya and coconut milks soya yoghurts spreads mild and medium hard cheese alternatives as well as soft ‘cheese’ and desserts.

The dairy-free products are also wheat and gluten-free, and suitable for vegans.

Tesco is promoting the range on its Real Food website, which now features recipes including dairy-free cheese & chive scones, made from Free From red Cheddar-style cheese, and dairy-free almond rice pudding.

“Tesco Free From lets you enjoy a varied, interesting diet that’s convenient and tastes great,” Tesco says on the website. As they are derived from plants, the lines are naturally low in satfat.

The Tesco range is available only in a limited number of stores, but will be rolled out more widely in the future.
