The drop in Danish loin sales to Japan has been translated into cheaper bacon prices, with a fall in back prices of as much as 10p/lb. This has put pressure on Dutch prices, which have dropped by between 3p and 5p per lb, depending on cut. Average UK retail prices for bacon have drifted down over the past 12 months, according to the office for national statistics. Back rashers dropped from 610p/kg in August last year, to 607p/kg this year. The same set of figures give a drop in streaky retails from 431p/kg to 421p/kg over the same period. {{PROVISIONS }}
