The Danish price for bacon backs is set to rise following strong orders from Japan.
The increase in the volume of streaks imported from Europe has caused British streak prices to fall 5p per/kilo.
British back prices remain fairly stable but the increase in Danish contract prices could lead to a rise in the British price over the next couple of weeks.
There is talk the Danish pig census may have been wrong, but this is dismissed by sources who said although they were down slightly, this was in line with expectations.
The Dutch are also expecting prices to rise.
