Danone is hoping to make a bigger splash with its calcium-enriched Activ' brand by extending it into three fruity flavours. Hitting shelves at the end of April, the range will include blackcurrant, apple and orange flavours. The brand will also benefit from a £6m investment this year to include TV, sampling and consumer promotions. A TV ad for the fruity flavours will be a major part of the spend and is set to hit screens from mid May, starring the Skelton family which first launched Activ' in January last year. That ad was part of a £9m spend to mark the brand's arrival, which has recorded respectable sales figures in its first 12 months. According to ACNielsen, Activ' has a 5.4% share of the £140m-a-year bottled water market in multiple grocers, sitting in fourth place in the branded waters league behind Danone stablemates Evian and Volvic, and Highland Spring. Angela Calderara, Danone Activ' brand manager, said the new flavours appealed to consumers who were attracted by the calcium benefit but wanted a more refreshing taste. The new flavours will be available in 4x33cl and 1.5l formats, rsps: £1.99 and 89p. In a separate move, Danone has put the original, plain Activ' into new 3-litre jugs, rsp: 99p. {{P&P }}
