Activia maker Danone is celebrating its best quarterly figures in three years.
The French dairy giant said sales for the past three months were up 8.5% on a like-for-like basis, with volumes up 5% for the period.
The company was buoyed by a strong performance from its waters division, whose brands include Volvic and which grew by more than 13%.
Emerging markets again proved key for the company’s performance, with sales in Europe up just 3.7%. By contrast, the Asian business grew by 18% and the Rest of the World by almost 15%.
“Danone teams have done a truly remarkable job over the past few quarters,” said chairman Franck Riboud, who hailed an “exceptionally good showing” from both the water business and baby nutrition.
But he warned “the competitive management of rising raw material prices” would be “a priority” for the rest of the year.
