Del Monte Fresh Produce is to file a second lawsuit in connection with a large-scale cantaloupe melon recall in the US earlier this year.

The company, which is one of the largest importers of cantaloupes into the US, said it would sue the public health division of Oregon Health Authority for the “misleading allegations” it made about Del Monte Fresh’s imported cantaloupes and a salmonella outbreak in the state.

“Throughout its history to present day, Del Monte Fresh has committed and remains committed to the quality and safety of its products and consumer satisfaction,” the company said in a statement. “The FDA investigation ultimately found no connection between Del Monte Fresh cantaloupes and any cases of salmonella panama, including in Oregon.

” Del Monte Fresh’s lawsuit against the authority comes after the company filed a federal lawsuit against the Food and Drug Administration over the same salmonella outbreak last week.
