Canned fruit and vegetable producer Del Monte said sales jumped 66% for the nine months to January 25 due to the merger of certain brands from Heinz.

Del Monte added Heinz’s tuna, petfood, soup and baby food businesses to its portfolio in December 2002.

Sales at Del Monte increased to $2.2bn and pre-tax profit rose 5% to $168m.

Del Monte boss Richard Wolford said: “Our merger integration initiatives are progressing well and continue to track on, or ahead of schedule.”
