For its Nescafe Hot When You Want self-heating cans of coffee, Nestle will get a Sial d'Or award for the most votes of any British entry from a panel of international judges who met earlier in Paris. And drinks giant Diageo will also be handed a gong after its Archer's Aqua premium packaged spirit won the coveted title of best new alcoholic beverage to be launched anywhere in the world since the last show. And, as one of a select group of category winners, it now stands a chance of scooping the "best of the best" award. The marketing moguls behind the brand will have to wait until the awards are presented to discover its fate, although the decision has already been taken by the panel of 24 judges who took part in a secret ballot for their favourite new product overall. However, it faces some stiff competition from other winners with manufacturers from Australia and New Zealand among those in with a shot, particularly as New Zealand emerged as the most successful country this year. But The Grocer tip for a dark horse goes to Pescanova in France which impressed the judges in the fish and seafood category with frozen lobster in a clear plastic tube. It would certainly prove a popular winner with the show taking place, as always, in its own back yard. {{FOCUS ON }}
