A frozen drink mix popular with a leading sports nutritionist has secured a listing with Sainsbury’s, bringing the brand to the high street for the first time.
Rolling out to the retailer from 27 February, Love Smoothies is used by performance nutritionist David Dunne in his work with Harlequins rugby union club, Sir Bradley Wiggins’ cycling team and British Canoeing.
Available in boxes of five 140g sachets (rsp: £4.79), the three flavours heading for Sainsbury’s frozen aisle - Pash ‘n’ Shoot, Broccoli & the Beast, and Red, White & Blueberry - were created with Stefan Cosser from Food Innovation Solutions, who previously worked as senior development chef at Heston Blumenthal’s Fat Duck.
Each sachet of fruit and vegetables can be blended with fruit juice, milk or water to create a chilled smoothie.
“This deal means people can enjoy our smoothies from their own homes or adapt them to their lifestyle and take them out when they need them,” said Love Smoothies MD Richard Canterbury.
“If you’ve ever wondered what to eat before running a marathon or simply hitting the gym, now you can give your body what it needs in terms of both energy and wind-down.”
