An association of craft spirit distillers has ramped up efforts to give retailers greater access to its members’ products.

The Craft Distillers’ Alliance (CDA) said it had made a “significant step” in its bid to make it more cost-effective for retailers to stock a wider selection of craft spirits by appointing Stephen Davies, MD of whisky distillery Penderyn, as chairman.

CDA founder Dominic Roskrow said Davies’ experience in building craft brand Penderyn would help the alliance achieve its aims. It has signed up more than 30 members since launching last October, and has agreed a deal with distributor Bondeau to create a direct, cost-effective route to market for small-scale spirit producers.
