Dunbia has set up a new beef supply group in a bid to get closer to farmers and drive efficiencies throughout its supply chain.

Farmers were crucial to its business operations, said the Northern Irish meat processor, and it wanted to understand their needs better.

Members of the Dunbia Supplier Group would be offered advice and discounts on animal feed and machinery, it said.

A website that allowed farmers to access the weights and grades of their animals' carcases after slaughter, download advice sheets, register for upcoming Dunbia events and access personal email accounts had also been set up, it added.

The formation of the group underlined Dunbia's commitment to the growth and development of its supplying farmers throughout the UK and Ireland, said Dr Jonathan Birnie, agricultural development manager.
