Demand for Royal Crest Dutch Bacon is increasing with a 7% rise to 110,000 tonnes shipped into the UK during 2002, almost reaching the record levels of 2000.
Dutch traders also welcomed the news that total sales of back rashers in the UK, which represents 96% of the Royal Crest volume, were also on the increase, according to data from Taylor Nelson Sofres.
The Dutch, traditionally strong in foodservice, said they had experienced significant growth in the UK retail sector during 2002.
